The Inbetweeners 2
The inbetweeners 2
Neil, Will and Simon receive an e-mail from Jay asking them to
join him in Australia whilst on his gap year, in the e-mail he promises them
that Australia is “epic bants”. With their lives now rather dull compared to
their happy school days and legendary lads holiday, it's an offer they can't
refuse. Once again, they put growing up and working ahead to the future
on-hold, and embark on a backpacking holiday of a lifetime in an awful car,
inspired by Peter Andre's 'Mysterious Girl'. Will soon finds himself battling
with the lads to do something cultural, whilst they focus their attention on
drinking, girls, and annoying fellow travellers. The difference between what
will wants to do and what the rest of the gang want to do is apparent
throughout the entire film. For example when the boys leave to go traveling and
they follow the bus that Katy is one at the bus station will is trying to fit
in with the other travellers but Neil then comes over and gives him the MCflury
he asked for much to the disappointment of Ben the main traveller in the film. Will and Simon
the Two boys who were relatively bright at school are both at university Will
is at Bristol University and Simon is at Sheffield University with his
Girlfriend Lucy who turns out to be a psycho and is extremely controlling over
Simon. Jay Has travelled to Australia on a gap year but is actually trying to
find his ex-Girlfriend Jane who is working on a stud Farm in the outback.
The first key theme in the movie is university life and the
fact it’s not as good as will and Simon throughout it would be. Will is at Bristol University and is really
struggling to make friends and isn’t included in any of their plans and when he
is they just use as a joke for example the party they invited him to. They told
him it was a fancy dress party so him, Simon and Neil turns up in harry porter
costumes and it was just a normal party and they won’t let the three boys in.
when Will gets back to his room his flat mates have taped all his belongings to
the ceiling. Will mentions that they do this “all the time”. This shows that
for some people uni isn’t the best time in the world.
The second area of the movie I will be exploring is the need
for young people to fit in with the people around them. This is really apparent
when the boys get to the bus station and will starts talking to the fellow
travelers. Will is so desperate to fit in that while he is standing with the
fellow travelers they start making fun of him and it gets even worse when Neil
walks over and gives will the MCflury he wanted.
